Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 22 May 1969. Unit locations: At LZ Oasis grid ZA117277; Battalion Headquarters (Forward), 1/35th Command Post is at LZ Oasis ZA117277; A Company at ZA095416; B Company at ZA092274; C Company at ZA039363; D Company at YA982285; Recon platoon is located at ZA127418; 4.2" mortar located at YA982285; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward) at LZ Oasis; At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

At 1930 hours on 22 May 69 B Company reports 3 rocket flashes at ZA025265. At 1931 hours on 22 May 69 LZ Oasis reports 3 incoming rounds. At 1934 hours on 22 May 69 Recon platoon received 5 rounds of incoming 60mm, 500 meters at 40 degrees azimuth from their 80A element grid ZA131423.

0055 hours (C) C Co to TOC: Final readout on 70K sighting - Spotted 9 to 10 individuals moving south to west, seen from noise when they were 200 meters off. They passed the element, they were 500 meters away, arty employed and it will sweep the area in the morning.

0700 hours (C) TOC to B Co: Joint operation with ARNV is still on call. In the mean time you are assigned an AO approximate boundaries follow: 0027, 0021, 0721 and 0727. Mission is to search and clear and employ squad size patrols, max SRP's and ambushes when patrolling. Establish SRP's in likely location and leave them in paths a minimum of 24 hrs, longer if possible. Prefer 3 or 4 strategically placed SRP's who can watch village stream line trails on a 24-hour day basis. For any other type of N/L use your own directions.

0707 hours (C) C co to TOC: CO of C Co reports hearing S/A, automatic weapons fire 225 degrees azimuth at a distance of 2 to 3 clicks. They also would like to speak to S3 air. S3 air contacted D Co and the Co can't hear firing.

0807 hours (C) C Co reports they sent SRP to location where they spotted VC/NVA yesterday and had negative findings. At this time they have a SOD enroute to check the area further.

0910 hours (C) TOC to A, C Co, Recon: A Co is to continue present mission in AO concentrating on area near LZ Nancy and establishing strategic located SRP's in the area near where 24 hour day surveillance over trail, village and stream liner can be burned. Their SRP's will be left in positions for at least 24 hours. You should max use of squad size daylight patrols. Organize you AO into search area and search thoroughly keeping track of where you have been and where you need to go. Avoid duplication and unnecessary walking through the area.

1743 hours (C) From TOC to A Co: 18 May report (F-3) 3 VC/VMC platoon location ZA077432 unit intends to attack an unspecified target in Pleiku City or Plei Blang on 21 May.

1931 hours (C) LZ Oasis reports 3 incoming rounds.

1933 hours (C) B Co to TOC: 80 have flashes at 300 degrees azimuth 1 to 1 1/2 clicks.

1934 hours (C) From Recon to TOC: Report receiving incoming, 5 rounds, 60mm, 500 meters at 40-degree azimuth.

1934 hours (C) From Recon - 131423 - where incoming is coming from negative casualties and damage reported.

1934 hours (C) From C Co to TOC: 52K element hears tubes pop at 345 degree azimuth, 3 clicks.

1938 hours (C) From B Co to TOC: 325 degrees - 3 kilometers - 1 round, 340 degrees 3 kilometers - 1 round.
