11 Dec. 1968 Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 11 December 1968. Unit locations: At LZ Joan YA841251, Battalion Headquarters (Forward), A Company 1/35, E (-) Company, 3rd platoon D Company 4th Engineers Battalion, counter mortar section from the 2/9 artillery; At LZ Betty YA902506; C Company, 1 CSF platoon from the new Special Forces Camp at Plei Djerang; At LZ Lanetta YA853457; E Company Recon platoon; At LZ MaryEtta YA762492; B Company; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward); At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear). 3rd platoon from A Company made a C/A to LZ Vera to sweep the area, nothing of significance was found on the sweep, the platoon returned to LZ Joan at 1654 hours. 1100 hours (C) The CSF people inform us that there was an ambush approximately 2 miles to the east of Checkpoint 35. There were approximately 15 casualties CIDG types; the wounded have been evacuated. 1240 hours (C) Readout on the CSF ambush this morning: Negative US all CIDG, 4 KIA, 13 WIAs, 1 B-40 Rocket was used, grenades were used and small arms fire was received from the north side of the road.
