Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 10 December 1968. Unit locations: At LZ Joan YA841251, Battalion Headquarters (Forward), A Company 1/35, E (-) Company, 3rd platoon D Company 4th Engineers battalion, counter mortar section from the 2/9 artillery; At LZ Betty YA902506; C Company, 1 CSF platoon from the new Special Forces Camp at Plei Djerang; At LZ Lanetta YA853457; E Company Recon platoon; At LZ MaryEtta YA762492; B Company; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward); At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear). The counter mortar section at LZ Joan spotted choppers at 0110 hours at grids YA769258 and YA857280, the choppers were picked up again at grids 881250 moving north, northwest (this at 0357 hours) and at grid 877252, these sightings were reported until 0408 hours, negative action was taken with the exception of the report rendered to Bde. A Company was alerted to have one platoon ready for a C/A to LZ Vera to make a sweep of that area. 2117 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY-2110 hours 10 Dec 68: From the Bde OIC to the Bn S-3. We will have 4 sorties of men ready for the C/A into LZ Vera on a 30-minute order tomorrow for the sweep of the area and check of recent intelligence and enemy activity in the area, they will stay about 1 hour and then return, A Co CO informed as was LTC Buckner Bn CO and the Engineers.
