Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 2 July 1969. Unit locations: At LZ Ruth ZA168528; Battalion Headquarters Support (S-4 Forward); A Company at ZA142529; B Company at ZA128514; C Company at ZA982285; D Company at ZA168528; Recon CP at ZA125554; 4.2" mortar platoon located at LZ Ruth ZA168285; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward) at LZ Oasis; At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

0715 hours (C) B Co to TOC: My CP location and my 2nd platoon and 3rd platoon received 60 82mm mortar rounds from what is believed to be 3 different locations from the west. The 3rd platoon has 3 urgent and 4 minor casualties, require a Dust-Off, ETA 15 to 20 minutes. Dust-Off 60 on station.

0735 hours (C) TOC to Pleiku: Request Dust-Off - 4 urgent and 10 routine casualties. Dust-Off 60 ETA 20 minutes.

0735 hours (C) B Co to TOC: 3d platoon recieved AK fire also.

0800 hours (C) Dust-Off 60 on station.

0805 hours (C) Pleiku sending out Bikini gunships.

0808 hours (C) From B Co to TOC: My CP location received 20 - 25 rounds 60/82mm mortars. 2nd platoon element received 20 to 25 rounds 60/82 mortars. 3rd platoon received 15 to 20 rounds 60/82mm mortar plus automatic fire from 3 different directions. 49 element has 12 wounded, 10 to be dusted off. My CP location has 1 miner wounded.

0810 hours (C) B Co to TOC: 2nd platoon element closed the CP and it will move out and sweep to the west about 900 meters. CP location moving toward 49 location at this time.

0840 hours (C) From Pleiku: Requested Pink Panther guns.

0845 hours (C) B Co to TOC: 6 have been dusted off and they have 6 more WIA, 2 KIA to be taken out.

0855 hours (C) B Co to TOC: Dust-Off complete.

0900 hours (C) Bde CO inbound to our location.

0900 hours (C) TOC to Bde: Red leg being employed as blocking fire.

0915 hours (C) B Co to TOC: Total 12 WIA, 2 KIA's dusted off.

1141 hours (C) D Co 1st PZ.

1147 hours (C) D Co 1st LZ.

1234 hours (C) On final LZ for D Co the last bird was going in on the final LZ and received ground to air fire. He turned toward 71st Evac Hospital and received ground to air fire again. He then came to LZ Ruth. Aloha 05 took two injured personnel to 71st Evac Hospital. (Info from S3 air) Bird had a crew of 4 and 6 packs.

1414 hours (C) Break down on B Co casualties by elements. 11 WIA 49 element, 1 WIA 35 element, 1 KIA 49 element. 1 Kit Carson Scout KIA line #118 with 49 element.

1637 hours (C) A Co received small arms at grid ZA105525 from northwest at 225 degrees, 75 to 100 meters out. Request gunships and guns requested from Bde - negative casualties, 3 to 4 weapons, 10 rounds.

1644 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY - On 2 July 69 at 1643H A Co to TOC: Small arms ceased.

1647 hours (C) Bde to TOC: Gunships enroute to A Co location.

1650 hours (C) Gunships on station.

1651 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY - On 2 July 69 at 1640H D Co to TOC: Had one sniper round on the east side of the village 150 meters away, employing M-79.

1652 hours (C) Aloha 02 enroute to our location.

1655 hours (C) Gunships working out.

1902 hours (C) Sent following message from Bn CO to A, B and D Co's: Regardless of position tonight you will have holes and overhead cover especially if you are around villages. A - 1850, B - 1858, D 1845.

2056 hours (C) D Co had movement on east, southeast, just threw 2 frags, reconning by fire with M-79.

2136 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY - On 2 July 69 at 2115H 2/35 B Co B7 closed the CP with no sightings of enemy. B6 withdrew to the CP and on the way spotted 5 individuals 40 to 50 meters northeast, opened fire on them and they did not return fire. They fled to the northwest, one fell and they believe they hit him.
