Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 12 April 1969. Unit locations: At LZ English 102694; Battalion Headquarters (Forward), A Company ZA017713; B Company LZ English; C Company ZA043656; D Company LZ Terry ZA008654; E Company at ZA027673; CSF Company Co ZA099722; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward): At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

At 0743 hours 12 Apr 69 52 element of A Company located at ZA015717 hears small arms and automatic weapons at 340 degrees azimuth at 2 to 4 kilometers from their location. They answered and could not tell type and heard rounds for a minute or so. At 1913 hour 12 Apr 69 an agent reported that approximately 30 VMC located in the vicinity of ZA190600 were armed with one machinegun, 4 SKS, 1 B-40 and small arms. Their mission was to ambush between Highway 14 north and Plei Mrong. G-2 commented it was possible that this unit was part of zone 4 unit.

0743 hours (C) 52 element of A Co location ZA015717 hears small arms automatic weapons at 340 degrees azimuth t 2-3 kilometers from their location. Answer: Cannot tell type, heard rounds for a minute of so.

1350 hours (C) From Recon and 4.2 mortar platoon: We are getting CS gas from the northwest. Why? The wind is blowing it from where the hook dropped it.

1358 hours (C) From Recon to TOC: We are getting CS from the northwest and it is not real bad but annoying.

1420 hours (C) S-3 to Bde: CS has wiped out E Co and Battalion command post.

1431 hours (C) S-3 to D Co: Be prepared to move to LZ Tango for extraction.

1920 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY - 12 Apr 69 at 1913 hours from Bde to S-2: Agent reported on 10 Apr that approximately 30 VMC locations in vicinity ZA190600. They were armed with one light machinegun, 4 SKS, 1 B-40 and small arms. Mission: To ambush between Hwy 14 and Plei Mrong. G-2 comments it is possible that this unit is part of the zone 4 unit.

1937 hours (C) A Co is at ZA037712, requested Dust-Off tonight for man with possible broken ankle.

1940 hours (C) No Dust-Off tonight, he must wait and we will send one at first break of light.

2040 hours (C) From Bde S-3 to Bn S-3: We will have 15 2 1/2 ton trucks and 10 trailers with 2 Quad 50's at CP 40 at 0930 hours. We will have LOH and gunships - 2ph's will be replaced on 14 April and will join us at Oasis. We can leave sandbags and barbwire if CSF at Plei Mrong needs them. If they don't we have to take them. In either case no tops will be on bunkers - birds have been laid on for tomorrow.

2320 hours (C) From CSM to Bn CO: We have been given permission to use Mars station for 3 consecutive days; starting date yet unknown; still working on mobile aspects.
