Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 11 April 1969. Unit locations: At LZ English 102694; Battalion Headquarters (Forward), D Company; A Company ZA102694; B Company ZA066679; C Company ZA069666; E Company at ZA027673; CSF Company Co ZA108712; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward): At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

At 0715 hours C Company 03 element found 5 bunkers last use was unknown. They were NVA type with overhead cover consisting of logs and dirt 1-2 feet thick. These were 2 man bunkers and there was also a 5th bunker not complete, just out of the line of hole location ZA062698 (3 X 6 x 4). At 0939 hours 11 Apr 69 S-3 passed to Brigade a reference entry to item #37: On air strike, we want the air strike on grid YA986687 on suspected bunker and trail complex. At 1047 hours 11 Apr 69 A Company informs us that there 52 element has reached their proposed location of ZA015616 and have found a back part of a 122 Rocket. They said it was very old. At 1545 hours 11 Apr 69 A Company reported to 1/35th: 06 element found numerous Ho Chi Minh sandal tracks at proposed night location of ZA021702 and will employ artillery then move in. At 1634 hours 11 Apr A Company had a further reading on the 06 element findings: Tracks were coming up Hill 972 from north heading south. The tracks were fresh and many. At 1600 hours 11 Apr 69 B Company found ZA098680 - 16 expended 75mm Recoilless Rounds which were cold and muddy, also found 4 bunkers (2 highway roads, 1 - 25 meters to southwest, 1 was 75 meters to northeast and roads were on a 120 degree azimuth to Plei Mrong). At ZA057683 30 earthenware crocks were found which were very old and rotted. Also found was partially destroyed hooch.

0715 hours (C) A Co 03 found 4 bunkers last use was unknown. They were NVA type with overhead cover consisting of logs and dirt 1 to 2 feet thick. They were 2 man bunkers. There was a 5th bunker not complete just out of the line of hole at 062698 (3 x 6 x 4).

0811 hours (C) 1st pick up zone for A Co from 059695.

0823 hours (C) 1st landing zone A Co to 017713 (cold LZ).

0935 hours (C) 1st pick up zone for D Company from LZ English.

0949 hours (C) 1st LZ for D Co to LZ Terry - cold LZ

1024 hours (C) Landing zone complete for D Co to landing zone Terry at ZA008654.

1149 hours (C) Present locations of all elements: A Co at ZA017713, A Company 53 element at ZA018707, 52 element at ZA015717. B Co is at LZ English. C Co is moving southwest to LZ Tango and D Co is moving to LZ Terry. D Co 51 element is moving south. From all elements sitrep negative reports the Recon platoon reports sitrep negative and the LP's are still in their night locations.

1545 hours (C) A Co to 1/35 - 06 element found numerous Ho Chi Minh sandal tracks at proposed night location (ZA021702) and will employ Artillery then move in.

1634 hours (C) A Co - further reading on 06 element findings - tracks were coming up Hill 972 from north heading south and tracks were fresh and many.

1811 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY - 11 Apr 69 at 1600 hours B Co found ZA098680 - 16 expended 75mm Recoilless Rifle Rounds cold and muddy, also found 4 bunkers (2 by roads, 1-25 meters to southwest, 1 was 75 meters to northeast). Roads were on 120 degrees azimuth to Plei Mrong at ZA057693. Also found 30 earthenware crocks very old also very old and rotted partially destroyed hooch.

2114 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY - 11 Apr 69 at 2050 hrs. From Bn S-3 to Bde S-3: On the 14th companies will be ready to be extracted if it is desired sooner we would like to know. According to 63 the 14th meets in with plans for a move; will be probably a noon day move; also will probably be air move to LZ English then convoy to Oasis; hopefully a 3 to 4 day standown. Have you a feel for what will happen to Bn - probably Bn TOC at Oasis, maybe with elements operating north of Rock Quarry and Ton An but nothing definite, will send letter 1 - 69 Armor to you tomorrow. We will like to meet with you at my location tomorrow if I find anything out.
