Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 28 December 1968. Unit locations: At LZ Lanetta YA857457, Battalion Headquarters (Forward), A Company 1/35, E Company, C Battery 2/9 artillery, 3rd platoon D Company 4th Engineers Battalion, counter mortar section from 52 group; At LZ MaryEtta YA766492; B Company, 1 CSF platoon from the new Special Forces Camp at Plei Djerang; At LZ Betty YA905505; C Company, OPCON Units: D Company OPCON 2/1 Cav; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward); At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).
At approximately 0150 hours there was an explosion in the TOC area, two (2) EM were slightly wounded, CSM Sullivan and PSG Chronister, no knowledge of what prompted the explosion. A crater analyst and a CID investigator were requested from Bde.
0240 (C) To the Bde OIC from Major Royal: An explosion of unknown origin exploded within the 1/35 TOC area at approximately 0150 hours, 2 EM were slightly wounded, Sergeant Major Sullivan and Sergeant First Class Chronister. The explosion appears to have been a Claymore type weapon, request that a crater analyst and a CIS investigator be dispatched to this location at first light tomorrow, would like to have a QSL from the Bde CO and the Bde S-3 that they have been informed of the incident. Doc request a Dust-Off for Sergeant Major Sullivan at first light this morning, negative knowledge of what prompted the explosion.
2020 (C) To A, B, C, D, E, Oasis and Camp Enari from the Bn CO: Everyone in the 1/35 will obtain a military haircut between now and 1 January 1969. To insure this NCO's in the mess line to inspect.
Your QSL desired by 1 January 1969 to me and will mean all personnel have received a haircut.
