Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 27 December 1968. Unit locations: At LZ Lanetta YA857457, Battalion Headquarters (Forward), A Company 1/35, E Company, C Battery 2/9 artillery, 3rd platoon D Company 4th Engineers Battalion, counter mortar section 52 group; At LZ MaryEtta YA766492; B Company, CSF platoon from the new Special Forces Camp at Plei Djerang; At LZ Betty YA905505; C Company, OPCON Units: D Company OPCON 2/1 Cav; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward); At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

At 1135 hours C Company informed the S-3 that SRP team 5 had captured a suspected VC at grid YA879494, individual did not have a weapon, however he was carrying a machete and fish net. SRP team 5 closed LZ Betty at 1759 hours. Kit Carson scout interrogated the suspect and said he was a VC and said there were more along the river. POW was then taken to Plei Djerang Special Forces Camp by direction of Bde. Readout on VC suspect: CSF states suspect (detainee) on leave from Plei Doc, states (detainee) village chief said he could go into the area for three days to cut bamboo; presently being retained as a possible VMC, however suspected to the friendly, tomorrow CSF will check with the village chief and keep battalion informed.
