1755 hours (C) Delayed Entry-1437 hours 21 September 1968-Helicopter down on LZ (3/8 C/A). 3 people are reported injured, 1 missing. Require Dust-Off. Dust-Off complete at 1500 hours. Ship shot down with B-40 rocket round.
1756 hours (C) Delayed Entry-1610 hours 22 September 1968 2nd helicopter shot down on LZ (3/8 C/A). 1 KIA, the rest WIA. CO 3/8 Inf aboard helicopter. They do not think he is seriously hurt. Bde XO to go to Plei Mrong Special Forces Camp ASAP. There he will assume command of 3/8. The helicopter was downed by B-40 rocket fire. 9 lifts in LZ, trying to reinforce. Gunships and FAC are being moved into the area. Injured have already been picked up. CO 3/8 Inf not wounded seriously.
