Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 9 July 1969. Unit locations: At LZ Ruth ZA168528; Battalion Headquarters Support (S-4 Forward); A Company at ZA118560; B Company at ZA116529; C Company at ZA982285; D Company at ZA089511; Recon CP at LZ Ruth; 4.2" mortar platoon located at LZ Ruth ZA168285; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward) at LZ Oasis; At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

1142 hours (C) B Co 1/35th to TOC: Readout on the 232 sweep; found bunker complex, 8 bunkers, old, last use 1 month, one 4' x 3' x 5' deep, oven inside, vents running out on top of the ground and covered with leaves to filter out smoke, vents were 6" x 4" x 3' long. 3 bunkers were 3 x 3 cubicle shaped, 4 bunkers were 3 x 3 x 4 to 5' deep with 3' overhead cover on all bunkers of logs and dirt. 2 trails in area - both parallel to the stream running north, negative use.

1238 hours (C) DELAYED ENTRY - On 9 July at 1210H from B Co to TOC: 212 sweep at 107533 found near the blueline 2 dug out holes parallel to the blueline; there were 2 slide marks on the bank near the holes and appeared as though someone slid down the banks to the water (possible boat), approximately 1 week old. 491 sweep at 114524 found a staging area or stopover point; there were trails running southwest out of the area which was well camouflaged. The found slick tracks on trails running northeast to southeast 4 or 5. 1 to 3 days old, however, due to trail being wet they could not estimate the size of element that had been there.

1440 hours (C) B Co to TOC: 49 element found at ZA113527 5 122-rocket boosters, which had already been destroyed and buried 4 to 5 months old.

1443 hours (C) B Co to TOC: 231 element while conducting a sweep at grid ZA109528 found a bunker complex containing 12 bunkers 4 x 3 x 5' with 3' overhead cover of logs and dirt; also a kitchen complex hut 5 x 6' pulled over bamboo for camouflage cover. Found 2 broken clay pots and several campfires used last week, also trails running north to south.

1557 hours (C) B Co to TOC: 21 element found 83 bunkers at grid 106534 on both side parallel to stream, 4 x 5 x 4' and canals 3 feet wide 1 foot deep on both sides of the stream and parallel to the stream. Tunnels connecting 10 bunkers, 2 of these had been used ion the last 24-hours. Also 20 of these were used last week, found in these bunkers tunnels connecting them. Found 2 82mm mortar caps and 2 empty fuse cans.

1620 hours (C) B Co to TOC: 231 at grid 179532 found trail running east/west and also found one tree having an LP or OP in it. Trail was used within last 12-hours.

1930 hours (C) TOC to A Co: 52 says you better be digging holes and have overhead cover.
