Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 7 July 1969. Unit locations: At LZ Ruth ZA168528; Battalion Headquarters Support (S-4 Forward); A Company at ZA096563; B Company at ZA107513; C Company at ZA982285; D Company at ZA098538; Recon CP at LZ Ruth; 4.2" mortar platoon located at LZ Ruth ZA168285; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward) at LZ Oasis; At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

1413 hours (C) D Co to TOC: D Co CP at ZA087537 grid, the OP made contact with 1 VC/NVA, they killed him, he is an NVA carrying AK-47. (They had the man, weapon he was carrying, 2 maps with 2 LRRP AO's (CM: 0462, 0654), two LRRP bodies found at ZA053537 from team 3D and one LRRP still MIA (Reference 9 Feb 1969), one was grids and boxes marked, on the other it had no markings, individual did not have the time to fire at the OP.) They shot him first, fatigues, black pajamas bottoms, Ho Chi Minh sandals, 2 magazines AK-47, GI gas mask carrier with no mask, GI compass, GI pistol belt, trenching tool, cigarette carrier full. Individual was Vietnamese at the west side of the perimeter, 15 meters from the OP, coming from the west on a trail when the Co employed Arty.

1515 hours (C) 2nd platoon B Co vicinity ZA113254 found a north to south trail used in the last week. At vicinity ZA113522 a trail to the west begins. Both 1 foot wide. The 1st platoon found an east to west trail 2 feet wide, which runs from ZA118517 to ZA114523. On the east side of the river is a small footpath. At vicinity ZA115521 1st platoon found a way station large enough for 20 individuals, bamboo tables 4' x 3', trench line 2' x 5', running east to west. Also found 2 well used trails (southwest to northeast, northwest to southeast), footbridge crossing a stream, At vicinity ZA114524 they found another way station for 20 individuals with bamboo tables. There were fresh campfires, opened C-ration cans, US plastic sandbags. Rations seemed to be used by the enemy. A well used trail east to west let to a bunker complex vicinity ZA117521 having 6 bunkers 4' x 5' x 4' with 3 feet overhead cover logs and dirt, 5 camp fires estimate 48 hours old and a trail leading west. Vicinity ZA116522 they found 8' square bamboo clumps, 1 Montagnard jug, 2 metal boxes 6' x 10' x 4' used in the last 2 weeks. Vicinity ZA114525 they found barefoot prints estimate 2 hours old on the east to west trail. Vicinity ZA111527 found 2 bunkers 4' x 4' x 5' with 3 feet overhead cover used in the last 3 months. Vicinity ZA114527 found 2 bunkers 4' x 4' x5' used in the last 2 months. Entire area and bunkers were destroyed.
