Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 5 May 1969. Unit locations: At LZ Oasis grid ZA117277; Battalion Headquarters (Forward), 1/35th Command post is at LZ Oasis ZA117277; A Company at AR773083; B Company (-) at ZA238088; C Company (-) at ZA218077; D Company (-) at ZA237073; Recon platoon at ZA145224; 4.2 mortar platoon at LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward) at LZ Oasis; At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

At 1800 hours on 5 May 69 A Company reports that some girls came to their location and told them there were VC in the village where A Company heard small arms fire earlier. The village is west of A Company's location.

0555 hours (C) A Dust-Off and an ETA requested by D Co 62B element when their EM was stung by a bee. ETA is 0745 hours.

0620 hours (C) TOC S-3 to B Co: Your mission is not changed. You will continue to bag the rice and it will be extracted around 1130 hours.

0621 hours (C) Sgt. Scheidt of base defense and PFC Demoral were caught sleeping on bunker guard at the 1/35th commor.

0710 hours (C) P.K. Dust-Off guns are on station and made commo with 20-C. Dust-Off 36 is on station at 0711 hours and it is complete at 1725 hours. Line #10 was stung by a bee and is paralyzed from the waist up.

1200 hours (C) A Co CA: 1st PZ is at 1045 hours. 1st LZ is at 1055 hours. Last PZ is at 1131 hours. Last LZ is at 1142 hours.

1320 hours (C) B Co CA: 1st PZ is at 1155 hours. 1st LZ is at 1217 hours. Last PZ is at 1308 hours. Last LZ is at 1320 hours.

1520 hours (C) From C Co to TOC: C Co has 8 sorties left at their PZ.

1735 hours (C) A Co to TOC: A Co reports small arms fire and a tube popping at 2000 meters southwest of our position.

1800 hours (C) A Co reports that some girls came to their location and said there were a lot of VC in the village. This village was where A Co heard small arms earlier and is west of A Co's location.

2100 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY - On 5 May 69 at 2035 hours B Co sent the Planned Summary to 1/35th TOC. For 06 May 69 and for B Co the 39 (-) will remain in the same location and conduct local patrols. The 1st plt is to continue search operations to the east and establish N/L's vicinity coordinates ZA107323. The 2nd plt is to continue search operations to the north along intermittent streams. They are to establish N/L's vicinity ZA086363. The 3d plt is to continue search operations to the north and establish a N/L vicinity coordinates ZA091321. A minimum of 3 B/M's should be maintained.

2113 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY - On 5 May 69 at 2203 hours D Co had a 1st PZ at 1635 hours and a 1st LZ at 1650 hours.

2155 hours (C) D Co at N/L ZA065394 hears small arms similar to fire fighting 5 clicks west of their location. They want to know if there are friendlies in the area.

2304 hours (C) C Co reports hearing small arms fire 3000 meters to the south.

2321 hours (C) D Co reports hearing machine gun fire to the east but does not know how far.
