Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 26 November 1968. Unit locations: At LZ Joan YA841251, Battalion Headquarters (Forward), B Company 1/35, C Battery 2/9 Artillery, C Battery (-) 7/15 Artillery GS, E Company, Counter Mortar Section 2/9 artillery; 1st Platoon D Co 4th Engineers Battalion, Mobile Dental Clinic from the 4th Medical Battalion; At LZ Jean YA809234; C Company 1/35, D Company 1/35, 1 CSF platoon from the Special Forces Camp at Duc Co, 1 AN/TPS-25 section from Division artillery, Counter Mortar Section from the 4/42 Artillery; At LZ Vera YA835178, A Company 1/35 OPCON to 3/8 Infantry; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward); At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear). At 0300 hours LZ Joan began receiving incoming 82mm mortar rounds and they continued until 0308 hours, Duc Co CSF Camp also took 6 rounds inside their perimeter resulting in 1 KIA and 4 WIA's. LZ Joan and the airstrip took approximately 25-40 rounds; there was no damage to equipment or personnel. Artillery and light organics were employed on the suspected enemy mortar positions, negative assessment. A Co and C Co conducted a relief in place at LZ Jean and LZ Vera, hooks were provided for the lift of both companies, the lift was complete at 1104 hours. B Company 1/35 and B Company 1/69 made a sweep of the area around LZ Joan to check for suspected enemy positions. Companies found possible positions but nothing significant.

1118 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY-1045 hours 26 Nov 68-At 1045 hours SFC Chronister informed D Co CO that Joey Bishop will visit LZ Jean between 1358 hours and 1421 hours today, told him to relay this message to A Co CO.

1759 hours (C) Debriefing of B Co: At grid YA847277 found a possible mortar position YA842282, found 10 foxholes, negative overhead cover 2 wood, 4 feet deep. YA836235, 836236 found some tunnel like paths cut into the elephant grass YA834254, 834255 fresh foot tracks
