Delta 1/35th

We were located at Ben Het Special forces camp. Detailed to be security for the engineers sweeping the road from Ben Het back towards Dak To. The Company was divided into two elements, one on the left side of the road and the other to the right. The road had large fields of fire cut on both sides, we had cleared 5 or 6 kilometers when the element on the left came to a large steep wash. They had to move back on to the road to cross it. Four or five had already moved back to the road when Gregory Johnson, taking a slightly different path than the others ahead of him, tripped a mine and was killed instantly.
