On 18 Apr 66 A 2/35 was helilifted into the vicinity of Plei Jrong Special Forces Camp. My platoon was the first into the LZ, which Mr. Charles had trapped with pungi stakes. When we hit the ground there were 18 of us WIA, every NCO and Officer was put out of action, in about 5 minutes. The birds circled and came back to pick us up. We were all medivaced to the 85th. The Company Commander, Cpt. Barnes, temporarily assigned the rest of the men to the other platoons.
