The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, CPL Vernon Raymond Glidden, who died in the service of his country on September 24th, 1950 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Vernon was 30 years of age. He was from Patten, Maine.

Comments: Corporal Glidden was originally a member of the 29th Infantry Regimental Combat Team, Company A, but that unit was retired on or before September 4, 1950. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on September 24, 1950. The 29th was attached to the 19th Infantry Regiment from July 28th through September 4, 1950. Son of Raymond and Elvira Glidden of Manchester, New Hampshire, in 1930. Family all listed from Maine. Birth certificate cites Patten, Penobscot County, Maine.
Cpl Glidden was with HQ/3rd Bn,35th Inf. He was also a WWII veteran.

Vernon landed on the D day invasion Ww 2 he received a Purple Heart for injuries he sustained upon landing there. He went on to fight until the war ended.
Jun 1950 • South Korea
Vernon went to the Korean War as an officer. After two weeks he was in charge of a convoy. He got out of his Jeep to help some men in another Jeep ,got the men out and the Jeep blew up and killed Vernon. His parents received the Golld Star. He died a hero.
