He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on March 5, 1952 and died of those wounds later that day. Son of Elmer S. Hoffman and Glenna N. Dershem Hoffman of Michigan. The family later moved to Modesto, California, where he enlisted. Originally from Gratiot County, Michigan.
