The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SGT Joseph M. Palmeri, 33159455, who died in the service of his country on February 4th, 1945 in Luzon. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Joseph was 30 years of age. He was from Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
The decorations earned by SGT Joseph M. Palmeri include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
SGT Palmeri was a single railroad employee when he enlisted February 25th, 1942. He worked in the Mechanical Department repairing freight cars or steam locomotives.
