The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC John L. Omniewski, 33159754, who died in the service of his country on February 1st, 1945 in Luzon. The cause of death was listed as Friendly Fire. At the time of his death John was 39 years of age. He was from Erie County, Pennsylvania.

The decorations earned by PFC John L. Omniewski include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

John was a scout and was mistaken for a Japanese infiltrator and shot during a night march.

John enlisted on 04/10/1942 and was married
