The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 Curtis Earl Burkett, who died in the service of his country on February 19th, 1971 in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Drown in Dak Selo River. At the time of his death Curtis was 23 years of age. He was from England, Arkansas. Curtis is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 5W, Line 120.
The decorations earned by SP4 Curtis Earl Burkett include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star with V, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
Curtis served with E,2/35th from 23 June 1970 until the 2/35th went home in November 1970. He was then transferred to B Company, 123rd Aviation Bn and was with them when he died. During his time with E,2/35th, Curtis earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with V Device.
