The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SSG James C. Papacostas, A.S.N. 36 621 599, who died in the service of his country on February 7th, 1945 in Luzon, the Phillipines. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death James was 22 years of age. He was from Chicago, Illinois.

The decorations earned by SSG James C. Papacostas include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.


James served with the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Division on Guadacanal, Vella la Vella, New Guinea, New Hebrides, and New Caledonia.

He was the son of Mr. Constantine D. & Mrs. Bessie M. Papacostas of Cook County, Illinois.
