The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SFC Harvey Harden Smoak, RA14123941, who died in the service of his country on January 3rd, 1951 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as Captured-Died POW. At the time of his death Harvey was 28 years of age. He was from Abbeville, South Carolina. Harvey's Military Occupation Specialty was 2745-Light Weapons Infantry Leader.

The decorations earned by SFC Harvey Harden Smoak include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Silver Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Sergeant First Class Smoak was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 1, 1950 and returned to duty on October 2, 1950. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on January 3, 1951 and died while a prisoner on April 4, 1952. Sergeant First Class Smoak was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantrymans Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
