The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SFC James Leland Glidewell, RA37001055, who died in the service of his country on July 22nd, 1950 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as MIA to KIA. At the time of his death James was 30 years of age. He was from Lawrenceville, Illinois. James' Military Occupation Specialty was 2745-Light Weapons Infantry Leader.

The decorations earned by SFC James Leland Glidewell include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Sergeant First Class Glidewell was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on July 22, 1950. Sergeant First Class Glidewell was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

James was a WWII veteran.


James Leland Glidewell was my Uncle, brother to my Mother, Mary Marea (Glidewell) Lloyd. Leland is buried in Lawrenceville, Ill. To my knowledge, he died in the early days of the Korean War, and I did attend his funeral in Lawrenceville, Ill. At the time he was married to Betty. (Sonja Hammer)
