The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PV2 Jack Elmer Zipfel, US55179509, who died in the service of his country on March 17th, 1952 in North Korea. The cause of death was listed as Seriously WIA by missile-Died of wounds (FECOM). At the time of his death Jack was 23 years of age. He was from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jack's Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.

The decorations earned by PV2 Jack Elmer Zipfel include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.


Private Zipfel was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on March 17, 1952 and died of those wounds later that day. Private Zipfel was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantrymans Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
