The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PV2 Broughton Lee Peacock, RA14396320, who died in the service of his country on November 4th, 1951 in North Korea. The cause of death was listed as Seriously WIA by missile-Died of wounds (FECOM). At the time of his death Broughton was 20 years of age. He was from Decatur, Georgia. Broughton's Military Occupation Specialty was 4641-Field Wireman.

The decorations earned by PV2 Broughton Lee Peacock include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Private Peacock was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on October 22, 1951 and died of those wounds on November 4, 1951. Private Peacock was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Broughton Peacock was my best friend in high school.Together, we went hunting - - we did lots together. Broughton was an honest person; no pretense, no pretending. I drove him to his home the night before he shipped out for Korea (I am also a Korean vet)We laughed during this farewell. We laughed and said we were both "too dumb to be killed." Neither of us was dumb, of course, but, sadly, my friend lost his life in Korea. I think of him so very often. (Norman Siefferman)

Broughton is buried in the Decatur, GA cemetery, Section 9, Block 9, Lot 5, Grave 4. His nickname was "Sonny" and his grave marker shows 2 PHs.

Funeral services for Broughton L Peacock,20, who died November 4 in a Tokyo hospital, will be held at the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Dr. Dick H Hall and Chaplain Robert Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery with full military honors.

Broughton was the son of Mrs. C.L. Peacock and the late C.L. Peacock. He attended Druid Hills High School and was a member of the track and basketball teams. He was a member of the Delta Theta Fraternity, Beta Chapter, and the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Broughton is also survived by four brothers and five sisters.
