The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Genejo Smith, RA13311766, who died in the service of his country on July 22nd, 1950 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as MIA to KIA. At the time of his death Genejo was 19 years of age. He was from Sayre, Pennsylvania. Genejo's Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.
The decorations earned by PFC Genejo Smith include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Full Military Rites to Honor Genejo Smith
The body of Pfc. Genejo Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith of Poplar street, Sayre, reported killed in action in Korea July 22, 1950, will arrive in Sayre on the Black Diamond Saturday afternoon at 5:21, according to word received by his parents from the Department of Defense.
A delegation from Skiff-Bower Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will meet the train to accompany the body to the Kolb funeral home in Sayre. He will be given full military rites at his funeral Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the funeral home, 126 N. Elmer avenue and at Tioga Point cemetery.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Steve, of Sayre and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Samuel Hosier of Danville, N.Y. He was a member of the Sayre First Methodist church.
