Alton Youth Killed in Action in Korea
Army Pfc. William Brooks, Jr., 23, Alton, was killed in action Sept. 9 in the Korean fighting, according to word received recently.
Pfc. Brooks, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Brooks, and husband of Mrs. Joyce Brooks, all of 6 East Elm Street, Alton, was a reservist who had been recalled to active duty last November.
Brooks, a graduate of Alton public schools, landed in Korea the past May with the 35th Regiment of the 25th Infantry division.
