The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Charles Richard Battershell, US55042745, who died in the service of his country on October 17th, 1951 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as Seriously WIA by missile-Died of wounds (FECOM). At the time of his death Charles was 22 years of age. He was from Robinson, Illinois. Charles' Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.

The decorations earned by PFC Charles Richard Battershell include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Private First Class Battershell was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on October 17, 1951 and died of those wounds later that day.

Charles was killed in fighting near Kumwha, SK. He entered the service 25 October 1950.

Charles is buried in New Robinson Cemetery, Robinson,IL
