The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, CPL Clarence Eugene Gruber, ER36941830, who died in the service of his country on June 28th, 1951 in North Korea. The cause of death was listed as Seriously WIA by missile-Died of wounds (FECOM). At the time of his death Clarence was 25 years of age. He was from Sangamon County, Illinois. Clarence's Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.

Corporal Gruber was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on February 4, 1951 and returned to duty on March 3, 1951. He was seriously wounded again in North Korea on June 6, 1951 and died of those wounds on June 28, 1951. Corporal Gruber was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantrymans Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
