The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, CPL James Ralph Clark, RA17260095, who died in the service of his country on November 28th, 1950 in North Korea. The cause of death was listed as Captured-Died nonbattle. At the time of his death James was 19 years of age. He was from Mingo, Iowa. James' Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.

The decorations earned by CPL James Ralph Clark include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star with V, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.


Sergeant Clark was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 28, 1950 and died while a prisoner on April 19, 1951. Sergeant Clark was awarded the Combat Infantrymans Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

James died in February or MARCH 1951 AT Pyucktong, NK Camp 5. He was very ill when I arrived at Camp 5 on February 3, 1951 and, he died shortly afterwards. I remember him speaking of Mingo, IA. ?? (Ellio Sortillo)

According to Korean War Project, James remains were recovered in 1954 during Operation Glory.
