The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Raymond Clayton Shaffer, who died in the service of his country on April 2nd, 1952. The cause of death was listed as Accidental Bombing. At the time of his death Raymond was 19 years of age. He was from Scranton, Pennsylvania.
The decorations earned by PFC Raymond Clayton Shaffer include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Private First Class Shaffer was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was injured in North Korea on November 20, 1951 and returned to duty on November 24, 1951. The hospital he was working in was mistaken for another target and accidentally bombed on April 2nd 1952.He was the twin brother of Richard Shaffer and the son of Emma Buttoff Shaffer and Grover Shaffer.
