The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PV2 Gerald Duane Hofmeyer, US55305792, who died in the service of his country on May 29th, 1953 in North Korea. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Gerald was 22 years of age. He was from Hospers, Iowa. Gerald's Military Occupation Specialty was 1745-Light Weapons Infantry Leader.

The decorations earned by PV2 Gerald Duane Hofmeyer include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.




According to Richard Johndrow, Gerald was killed on Outpost Dagmar when hit by incomming while standing in the chow line. He entered the service 19 November 1952.
