The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death George was 23 years of age. He was from Deland, Illinois. George's Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.

Corporal Taylor was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 28, 1950 He died while a prisoner at Camp #5, Pyoktong, North Korea in March 1951 on Malnutrition and Dysentery. His remains were not recovered. Corporal Taylor was awarded the Purple Heart, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Hello, I am Betty(Taylor)Sunderland, one of many nieces of George's I would love to hear from anyone who knew him. I am writting a book on the whole Taylor family and have little to write of about George as a person.I was so young when he died. He had 10 brothers and 3 sisters all gone now except for 2 (2001)
