The cause of death was listed as MIA to Declared Dead. At the time of his death Victor was 19 years of age. He was from Worcester County, Massachusetts. Victor's Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.

For his leadership and valor, Sergeant Gallerani was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
