The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SGT William Edward Humphrey, who died in the service of his country on February 6th, 1980 in Pleiku Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death William was 38 years of age. He was from Bethel, Tennessee. William is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 17E, Line 29.
The decorations earned by SGT William Edward Humphrey include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
Sgt Humphrey was wounded at LZ Ten Alfa on May 28 1966. He died at home on February 6, 1980 and was added to The Wall on Memorial Day 2004.
