The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 John Anthony Perez, who died in the service of his country on May 13th, 1969 in Pleiku Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death John was 18 years of age. John is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 25W, Line 109.

The decorations earned by SP4 John Anthony Perez include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

Washington (AP) U.S. Army Specialist 4th Class John A. Perez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Manuel A. Perez, Dededo Village, Agana, Guam, has been killed in Vietnam as a result of hostile action, the Defense Department reported.

Perez Killed

SP/4 John Anthony Perez , son of Mr. and Mrs. Manuel A. Perez of Dededo, passed away on May 13, in Vietnam action. SP/4 Perez died in fighting in Vietnam. He is survived by his parents, and six sisters and four brothers. Burial will be announced at a later date, pending arrival of the body.

The army man would have been 19 on June 15, He attended JFK High School, and enlisted in the Army in 1968.

SP-4 John A. Perez, U.S. Army died in Vietnam as a result of enemy action on May 13, 1969.

SP-4 Perez enlisted in the Army on January 31, 1968, and completed Basic Training at Fort Ord, California. His first duty assignment was in Bonholder, Germany.

SP-4 Perez is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel A. Perez, six sisters and four brothers.

Last respects may be offered on Monday, May 26, at his parent's residence in Dededo. Funeral services will be held on May 27, at the Santa Barbara Church in Dededo. Burial will follow at the U.S. Naval Cemetery in Piti.

John was from Dededo, Guam.
