The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 Theodore William Sandidge, who died in the service of his country on April 3rd, 1968 in Kontum Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death Theodore was 20 years of age. He was from Pawnee, Illinois. Theodore is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 47E, Line 58.

The decorations earned by SP4 Theodore William Sandidge include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

Theodore is buried in the Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee, IL

I only have one picture of you. My memories of you died the day I saw you in your casket. I remember screaming to my dad "That's not my Teddy, that's not my Teddy bear!. Because I loved you so much, I named my son after you. I still love you.

Ted well Just been sitting here thinking about you on this Memorial Day. Sometimes I wonder if your not the lucky one. If you was here today and seen how the world is turning out I'm not too sure you would like it. My friend I have thought of you many times in the last few years. I miss having you around to talk to when I was having all the trouble in my life. We used to talk so much before we joined the service. I really miss those talks. Well about out of space now will write more later.

The Bronze Star Medal Is Presented To Specialist Four Theodore W Sandidge

For meritorious service in connection with military operations against an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Specialist Four Sandidge distinguished himself while serving as a Team Leader and Squad Leader with Company D, 2/35th Infantry. Upon joining his unit, Specialist Four Sandidge displayed a strong working knowledge of infantry tactics and high leadership ability that soon earned him the position of Team Leader. He proved to be an outstanding pointman and effective leader. He adjusted well to the constantly changing situations and dangers inherent in a combat zone. As his proficiency increased, he became a Squad Leader and continued to perform his duties in an exemplary manner. On 3 April 1968, Specialist Four Sandidge was mortally wounded while on a search and destroy mission west of Kontum City. His outstanding achievements, professional integrity, and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
