Dear Tommy.Uncle Eddie Bowman died last week and when I found out he wanted to be buried at the Navy cemetery I started thinking about you and your sacrifice for our country. I want you to know that we all still think about you and appreciate your sacrifice and we miss you so much. I'm glad that my Dad was there to take you home from Viet Nam so that you weren't alone. My last memory is of you in the summer of 1966 smiling and laughing as we were walking down Kerchival in Detroit without a care in the world.that fresh, happy face and that beautiful smile. You will always be remembered Tommy. With Love Forever, Your Cousin, Linda

(His BSM Citation)
The Bronze Star Medal Is Presented To Private First Class Tommy R Bowman
For distinguishing himself by outstanding meritorious service in connection with ground operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Through his untiring efforts and professional ability, he consistently obtained outstanding results. He was quick to grasp the implications of new problems with which he faced as a result of the ever-changing situations inherent in a counterinsurgency operation and to find ways and means to solve those problems. The energetic application of his extensive knowledge has materially contributed to the efforts of the United States mission to the Republic of Vietnam to assist that country in ridding itself of the communist threat to its freedom. His initiative, zeal, sound judgment, and devotion to duty have been in the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.

To My Buddy Tommy.
Tommy, You are in my mind every day. The times we spent in basic & arguing about the war; the things we would do and the places we would go. I just want anyone who reads this to know that Tommy Bowman was my best buddy in Basic and my personal hero. You live in my life every day, my friend. I almost joined you on 8/16/69; now, I have three children and a beautiful grand-daughter and the cancer and the tumors will not stop me. I will try to be as strong as you, my friend. I will never forget you. God bless and keep your memory. Dave (Alex)

You were my Aunt (Mary Dalton Barnes) and Uncle's (Harold Barnes) best friend. I was 5 and you 19 and you were my sweet heart :) You bought me a yellow dress and I wore it for my first school picture. I also wore it at your funeral where I cried my eyes to sleep. You are remembered and loved!
