The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SGT James Hartzer, who died in the service of his country on August 20th, 1950 in Korea. The cause of death was listed as Non-battle Death. At the time of his death James was 21 years of age. He was from Avella, Pennsylvania.
The decorations earned by SGT James Hartzer include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Sergeant Hartzer was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He died of other causes on August 20, 1950. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. Sergeant Hartzer was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
