The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SFC Wiley Fulton Cosby, who died in the service of his country on August 15th, 1950 in Korea. The cause of death was listed as DOW-MIA. At the time of his death Wiley was 28 years of age. He was from Cub Run, Kentucky.
The decorations earned by SFC Wiley Fulton Cosby include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Sergeant First Class Cosby was a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously injured while fighting the enemy in South Korea on August 15, 1950 and died of those injuries later that day. His remains were not recovered. Family has reason to believe SFC Cosby died from unknown causes and not from enemy action. More information needed. Note: Family file shows name as Wiley Fulton Cosby. His parents were Bertha Mae and Charles Owens Cosby.
