The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 John Dominick Arquillo, who died in the service of his country on October 13th, 1969 in Pleiku Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Misadventure/Friendly Fire. At the time of his death John was 21 years of age. He was from Lorain, Ohio. John is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 17W, Line 72.
The decorations earned by SP4 John Dominick Arquillo include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
John was a 1966 graduate of Lorain High School. After graduation he went to work for R.E. Warner and Associates as a drafting engineer. John is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
MISTAKEN FOR ENEMY WHILE ON PERIMETER DEFENSE, LZ JOAN AT DUC CO AIRFIELD. John suffered a GSW to left thigh and lived approximately 1.5 hours.
