The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Jack Walter Peterson, who died in the service of his country on June 23rd, 1967 in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Grenade. At the time of his death Jack was 20 years of age. He was from Duluth, Minnesota. Jack is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 22E, Line 55.

The decorations earned by PFC Jack Walter Peterson include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star with V, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

A Duluth Soldier was killed Friday in combat action in Vietnam, the Defense Department reported Monday.

Pfc. Jack W. Peterson, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Peterson, 3919 W. 8th Street, was killed by a fragmentation grenade while on duty with C,2/35th Company of the 25th Infantry Division.

Peterson, a 1966 graduate of Denfeld High School, was employed by the Clyde Iron Works prior to being inducted into the Army in November. He was a member of Holiness Methodist Church.

Surviving besides his parents are three sisters, a brother, and his paternal grandmother.

Jack is buried in Soldiers Rest, Oneota Cemetery
