The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, 1LT Michael Gordan Sudborough, who died in the service of his country on March 21st, 1967 in Kontum Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Multi-Frag. At the time of his death Michael was 24 years of age. He was from Ashland, Oregon. Michael is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 17E, Line 7.

The decorations earned by 1LT Michael Gordan Sudborough include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star with V, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

On the left is Michael's high school picture. The school, Camden High of San Jose, California, no longer exists but an alumni organization remains. Every Memorial Day these alumni take a moment to remember their fellow students who, like Michael, made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Michael G. Sudborough was a graduate of UC Berkeley with his Bachelor's in Forestry and served as a fire fighter and forest ranger in Northern California for the United States Forest Service prior to volunteering for military service.

Prior to joining the 35th in Vietnam, he had also served with the 23rd (Tomahawks) in Korea.

Michael was interred at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, CA
(Section B Site 900).
