The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Melvin Michael Castille, RA18281539, who died in the service of his country on November 28th, 1950 in North Korea. The cause of death was listed as MIA to Declared Dead. At the time of his death Melvin was 19 years of age. He was from St Martin County, Louisiana. Melvin's Military Occupation Specialty was 4812-Heavy Weapons Infantryman.

His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. For his leadership and valor, Corporal Castille was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
