The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Joseph A. Arimento, who died in the service of his country on November 23rd, 1966 in Pleiku Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Misadventure (Possibly Friendly Fire). At the time of his death Joseph was 20 years of age. He was from Yonkers, New York. Joseph is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 12E, Line 111.
The decorations earned by PFC Joseph A. Arimento include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
Joseph is buried in the St Josephs Cemetery in Yonkers; Section 13, Plot 96, Grave 11

Joe, I wish that I could have met you. I love your family and I am honored that they have become my family. My daughter Susan married your nephew Kenny. They have a handsome, charming, funny little boy named Kenneth Joseph Arimento. Yes, he was proudly named after you. Thank you for fighting a war that we did not and never will understand. Never Forgotten
Dear Joe, I was on my way to VN., when I was told, of your death. You have no idea, how much, that hurt. I couldnt accept, that you, were gone. I visit your grave every trip, I make back to Yonkers, as my Dad, is buried a few rows in front, of you. So after, paying my respects to Dad, I go over, to your grave and let you know, how Im doing and talk, about playing ball at CHS., all the help you gave to a good field, no hit player. You always encouraged, never, a bad word. You would have made, a great teacher. Jimmy C. said it best, that someone as good as you, paid the ultimate price, for a useless war. I Think Of You, Often
Joe, you were a year ahead, of me and your brother Ken, was a year behind me in St Josephs school, in Yonkers. I remember, you both as really good guys, your parents did a great job, of raising you. I arrived in Vietnam with the 9th Infantry, in DEC., 66 and learned, of your death in a letter, from my parents. Years later, I saw your brother, Ken, at Ray Wynnes, funeral. Ray lived in Mulford Gardens, attended, St Josephs and also served, in Vietnam. Rest in peace. Kevin
