The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 Joseph George Ambrosio, who died in the service of his country on September 27th, 1968 in Quang Duc Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death Joseph was 20 years of age. He was from Elyria, Ohio. Joseph is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 42W, Line 25.
The decorations earned by SP4 Joseph George Ambrosio include: the Combat Medical Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

To get to the cemetery take exit 145 (Rt 57 north) off of either the Ohio Turnpike I-80 or from I-90/Rt 2 (They parallel each other closely here). Go about 1 mile north on Rt. 57 (Lorain Blvd) until you get to N. Ridge Rd E (May also be called Wilbur Ave). Turn left (west) here. Go about 2 miles until you get to Broadway Ave. Turn right (north) on Broadway Ave. Go about 1/2 mile to N Ridge W (May also just be called Ridge) and turn left (west). On October 3/ 1968 the Cleveland (Ohio) Press reported the deaths of 5 area men in Vietnam. 2 of these men were Cacti. One was Lt. David Keith Chahoc. The other was:
"Army Spceialist Joseph G. Ambrosio, 20, son of Mr. And Mrs. Louis Ambrosio, 41432 Northwood Ave, Elyria Twsp."
"Specialist Ambrosio who would have been 21 on Oct. 31, worked for an auto agency in Elyria after graduation from Elyria High School in 1965. He was drafted Sept. 14, 1967, and went overseas last March.
Serving as a medical aid man in an Infantry outfit, he was killed Friday, his Mother's birthday. The family was told only that his death occurred during a fire fight. Earlier he had been hospitalized with malaria.
"Recently his family sent him drawing materials because he liked to sketch. His sister and brother also survive him."
