The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Roy Warner Chamberlain Jr., who died in the service of his country on March 23rd, 1967 in Kontum Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death Roy was 24 years of age. He was from Wayland, Michigan. Roy is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 17E, Line 27.

The decorations earned by PFC Roy Warner Chamberlain Jr. include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star with V, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.


Roy is buried in Wyoming Cemetery, Grandville, MI

PFC Roy (Bud) Chamberlain Jr., age 24, of Wayland was fatally injured last Thursday when his outfit was hit by Viet Cong mortar fire. He had arrived in Vietnam March 6, serving with the 25th Infantry Division at Pleiku. He was injured while clearing an area for helicopter landing near the base camp and died that evening in the 19th Surgical Hospital. Chamberlain entered the Army last September and received his basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He lived northeast of Moline on 146th Street. Survivors include his wife, Mary, his mother Mrs. Mary Chamberlain of Grand Rapids and his father Roy W Chamberlain of Saginaw; two sisters: Mrs. Donald Young of Saginaw and Mrs. John Dougi of Grand Rapids; and his grandfather, Ross Chamberlain of Saginaw.
