The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Paul Daniel Guimond, who died in the service of his country on October 28th, 1966 in Pleiku Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Multi-Frag. At the time of his death Paul was 19 years of age. He was from Lawrence, Massachusetts. Paul is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 11E, Line 122.
The decorations earned by PFC Paul Daniel Guimond include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

CHESTER ST. SOLDIER KILLED IN VIETNAM
A 19-year-old Chester Street soldier Monday became the sixth Greater Lawrence resident to die in the Viet Nam war.
Pfc. Paul D. Guimond, son of Mr. And Mrs. Maurice Guimond, 61 Chester St., was killed in front line action near Pleiku, Viet Nam. The 25th Infantry Division, of which Pfc. Guimond was a member, was hit by North Vietnamese army regulars near the Cambodian border 230 miles north of Saigon.
Pfc. Guimond arrived in the overseas country on Sept. 16. His parents received a letter from him Monday.
An unconfirmed report was that Pfc. Guimond died of wounds suffered when he was hit by exploding shell fragments last Friday.
Pfc. Guimond, a 1964 graduate of Lawrence High School, was a classmate of Pfc. Joseph T. Gile, Jr., formerly of 30 Leeds Terrace, who was killed in the Viet Nam fighting earlier this month.
Pfc. Guimond formerly worked at the Superior Shoe Company, this city, before enlisting in the army on Dec. 28th, 1965. He was a student in the evening division of studies at Merrimack College, North Andover. He was born Jan. 7, 1947.
The Viet Nam war victim attended Sacred Heart Church and was a member of Explore Post 13, sponsored by the parish.
Besides his parents, he is survived by four brothers. Thomas, 31, of 59 Chester St., Joseph, 27, of 230 High St., John, 25, of 545 Howard St., and Raymond, 18; a sister, Anne Marie, 11, the latter two living at home with their parents; also several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He will be buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover, MD
Pfc. Guimond was the sixth casualty in the Viet Nam action from Greater Lawrence.
On Feb. 24 S. Sgt. William O. Allen, an 18-year Army veteran, husband of Mrs. William O. Allen, 54 Bowdoin St., was killed in action against the Viet Cong. L. Cpl. James St, Cyr, 19 USMC, 35 Water St., North Andover, died of wounds March 26 suffered in earlier combat.
Pfc. John Fontaine, 21, 102 Railroad St., Methuen, was killed in action against the Viet Cong on April 24th. On July 11, Pfc. Robert B. Mann, 36 Lake St., Salem N. H., was killed. Pfc. Joseph T. Gile Jr., 30 Leeds Terrace, was killed three and a half weeks ago.
