The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 Paul Raymond Harrison, who died in the service of his country on June 11th, 1968 in Kontum Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Friendly Fire (Mis-Directed Mortars). At the time of his death Paul was 22 years of age. He was from Medway, Ohio. Paul is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 58W, Line 25.

The decorations earned by SP4 Paul Raymond Harrison include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

Spec 4 Paul R Harrison, 22, of Medway, has been reported killed in action in Vietnam on Tuesday, June 11. Death was the result of wounds received when he reportedly was struck by U.S. mortar fire that fell short of its target. He was being evacuated, by helicopter, to a field hospital and died in-route.

Specialist Harrison was serving as a radio-telephone operator with the Fourth Infantry Division at the time of his death.

He entered the Army in June, 1967, and completed his basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Harrison was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, before going to Vietnam.

He was a 1964 graduate of Tecumseh High School and attended Michigan Technological University. He was employed by Western Electric Co., Dayton, prior to entering the service.

Harrison was a member of the Medway Methodist Church and was past Master Counselor in the Order of DeMolay.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Martha E Harrison and wife, Carol, both of Medway, and his maternal grandmother. Mrs. Sarah Eliza Bird of Springfield. His father, Orville, preceded him in death.

His wife, the former Carol Luginbuhl, is an eighth grade teacher at Olive Branch School. She was making preparations to join Paul in Hawaii for his R&R, which he was eligible for after having completed one-half of his tour of duty.

Paul is buried in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Block "O", Section 287. Grave #3. Glen Haven is located on old Route U.S. 40-National Road, which is approximately two miles west of Donnelsville, OH, which is approximately six miles west of Springfield, OH.
