The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Greig Robert Parkhurst, who died in the service of his country on November 27th, 1967 in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Mortars. At the time of his death Greig was 19 years of age. He was from Bremerton, Washington. Greig is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 30E, Line 98.
The decorations earned by PFC Greig Robert Parkhurst include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
Greig is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Bremerton, WA

~the love of my life~
Oh yes we were lovers - for only 3 years. We had a wonderful relationship - even if we were young. We had lots of fun! I loved him with every little piece of my heart and still, to this day, those feelings are as strong as ever. I feel we will be together again in another place some time - I pray for this God, I miss him so much! He was a good son and an only son. He's buried in his hometown along with his parents and grandmother. God Bless all of them - I take flowers, trim the grass and talk to all of them as often as I can. They were a wonderful family and they loved me too! Just one more time!?

Army Pfc. Greig R. Parkhurst, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern R. Parkhurst, 1361 Lyle Ave. Parkhurst sustained fatal wounds on 27 Nov 1967
He was serving with the Fort Lewis based 4th Division. He was in Company A, 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry, 3rd Brigade of the 4th Division.
Parkhurst was born 16 Jan 1948, in Seattle and had been a Bremerton resident most of his life until entering the army. His father is the owner-manager of the Red Top Cab Co.
The young man attended West High School until quitting to go to work. He volunteered for the draft and was inducted here in September , 1966. He took basic training at Fort Lewis and advanced individual training at Fort Polk, La., before going to Vietnam about nine months ago.
Parkhurst was wounded by a booby trap about six weeks ago and returned to duty after two weeks of hospitalization. He was the Parkhursts' only child. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Doris Daniels, Long Beach, Calif. Funeral arrangements are pending.
